2013 began with the news that I had a short story accepted in Ayris Magazine. They posted that story, “Six Minutes,” on their web site in June and I recently received word that the print edition should be coming out later in the summer.
The second half of 2013 begins with equally exciting news: my story, “The Vacation Fight,” has been accepted for the Fall 2013 edition of Compose: A Journal of Simply Good Writing. It’s a new online magazine, and the people who created it have extensive writing and publishing experience.
It’s nice to have my self-publishing effort, King’s Long Search, bookended between two more traditionally published works. Makes me feel like I might actually know what I’m doing. Speaking of King’s Long Search, when I first released it in June, I ran a promotion and over 60 people took advantage of the free offer. Things had been quiet since then, but last week, I made my first fee-based sale. At this rate, I may be able to quit my day job by the time I’m 65.
