The thing about the Sazerac is that nothing this easy to make should taste so great.
The basic recipe involves muddling a sugar cube with some water. Then add 2 1/2 ounces rye whiskey and a few dashes of bitters, and then shake with ice.
Coat a rocks glass with some absinthe and then strain the above mixture into the glass.
As usual, we had a slight variation. We didn’t have any sugar cubes, so we used a bit of simple syrup. We used our homemade orange bitters and Vieux Carré Absinthe from Philadelphia Distilling. We have the absinthe in a small spray bottle which makes coating the glass easy. I usually give each glass about 5 sprays.
Incredibly easy and incredibly tasty.
