Staycation 2013 Day Four

By day four of Staycation, we were starting to wind down. As much as we like getting out and about, we also need to use the time off to relax.

We began the day with brunch at Ela. We had been to Ela before, but just to sit at the bar. We hadn’t been there for a proper meal. Brunch was excellent and we seriously need to get back there for dinner. They gave us complimentary brown butter bread with strawberry preserves. I ordered the Short Rib Benedict and Holly had the Biscuits and Bone Marrow. Both were outstanding.

We relaxed most of the day and then headed out late in the afternoon to one of our favorite places, Jet Wine Bar. We were feeling snacky, so in addition to some wine, we shared one of their delicious meat and cheese plates. Yes, Jet is one of our regular spots, but it is a go-to place when we’re wanting some afternoon wine and snacks.

We did something totally different for dinner and went to Opa, a Greek restaurant we had been wanting to try. Again, we made an excellent choice and really enjoyed our dinner. We ordered some Greek wines with very helpful advice from our waitress. She did an excellent job helping us navigate our choices.

We began our meal by sharing the Spread Pikilia: Hummus, Tzatziki, Tirokafteri, Melitzanosalata, Vegetables, Olives, Grilled Pita. I had the Pastitsio and Holly had the Lamb Chops, Fresh Fava Purée, Braised Leeks, Mint Pistachio Pesto. We finished by sharing the baklava & fig ice cream and we each had an ouzo. Everything was amazing and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and service.

We like to have a quiet last day of Staycation to prepare ourselves for returning to work, so this was our last big outing and we enjoyed every bit of it!
