The second full day of our Philadelphia Staycation got off to a lovely start with brunch at Inde Blue, a modern Indian restaurant in Midtown Village. We had been there before for drinks & snacks but not for brunch or for a full meal. They serve brunch Saturday & Sunday, but we chose Sunday because they have live sitar music on Sundays at noon. We were able to get in without a reservation, but it did get crowded, so in the future I would make a reservation just to be sure.
We really enjoyed our food and the live music. We started with a pot of hot chai tea, which was delicious and comforting.
For appetizers, we got crispy spinach chaat and BBQ pork samosas. The spinach chaat is such a great dish – the spinach is flash fried and crunchy, and it’s topped with tamarind date chutney, yogurt, tomatoes, and shallots.
For our entrees, I got paneer bhurjee (paneer scramble with chili naan) and Tom got a vindaloo egg skillet (sunny side eggs, pork sausage, cheddar cheese, desi home fries, grilled challah). Both were very tasty and satisfying. We definitely look forward to going back to try more of the brunch menu!
After brunch, we went across the street to Tredici Enoteca for a glass of wine before Tom headed out to the Philadelphia Film Festival for his movie (Miss Impossible). We like it there – it always feels relaxing, and the barstools are so comfortable!
We made dinner at home: Scallops with white wine beurre blanc and lemon orzo. We paired this with a bottle of Tablas Creek 2015 Côtes de Tablas Blanc from our first wine club shipment, now that it’s legal in PA to buy wine from out-of-state wineries.
Altogether it was a lovely Sunday and another successful day of Staycation!
